Thank you for taking the time to unite together as community and a country to help my vision of a better tomorrow fulfilled through unity. So many of you have said this was a great idea and I should go forward with it. With enough faith in the idea and lots of research, I decided to start this GoFundMe page to make this dream become a reality. The beauty of it all is anybody who participates can benefit tremendously. Thanks again for caring for a vision that is not your own. I believe that’s how true enduring progress is really made… by supporting each other. (https://www.facebook.com/namastaypr...) (www.gofundme.com/namastay)
In June of 2015, my family of five went on our first family vacation to the Outer Banks, NC. We stayed in a quiet motel like atmosphere beach house with two small bedrooms, a bathroom, kitchen, and living space. We were located across the street from the beach, with the mighty Atlantic roaring in our ears putting us to sleep every night. It was the only major perk of our vacation home. My family’s first trip to the ocean is definitely a trip we will never forget. We were blessed and fortunate to go.
It got me thinking... “Wow everyone should have an opportunity to do something like this!”
But…. Vacation come at a serious price. You know they say its not about the destination, but the journey. Well the journey costs a lot. Traveling: We live in Ohio. Driving to the Outer Banks is about 10 hours non-stop. Luckily, my leased car was not a factor because the in-laws let us use their mini-van to use. it cost about $40 to fill-up maybe say 3 times. Well that’s about $240 round trip. Flying is a completely different story. You can easily multiply that by 8. The beach house: The beach house rate was in the $1300 range for 7 days 6 nights.
Like I said, it wasn’t anything extravagant or anything to write home about. We went for the experience and the scenery. Yes, we were very grateful there were no rodents or anything that would kept us up at night.
To recap: Family of 5 trip to the Outer Banks Drive: Fly: $240 Gas (round trip) $1800 tickets (round trip) $1300 Rental House $1300 Rental House $600 Rental Car Right about now you are probably saying,
“To the point please!” Listen, this is not your typical GoFundMe. I read the stories of what people are asking for, and I’m so encouraged by the generosity of these projects. The outpour and love which is given should seriously be acknowledged and respected in these current times of deceitfulness and hatred. These qualities that have been displayed on GoFundMe is just what the doctor ordered. With that said I feel that this particular one will be a little different and be coming from a completely different angle. In order for me to explain this... let me say something about me.
My name is Pat Simms. I am 31 years old. I believe in hard work and no handouts. However, I also believe in words like Team, Unity, Trust, Faith, Communication, Dreams, and Helping. I am by no means in a bad situation. I have a modest home, in the suburbs of Ohio. I have a wonderful wife, three amazing kids, and two dogs. My wife and I have also been blessed with good paying jobs. Our health mentally and physically are on our side. My family and I count our blessings every single day. Our secret ingredient has always been gratitude. We are your typical middle class family, but with that, the middle class, everyday hardworking people simply get overlooked, and the raw end of the deal. We fight for every inch of what we have and quite frankly it wears you down overtime.
Welcome to my project, Nama-stay. I am a very spiritual person. The name Nama-stay comes from the word “Namaste”, which means; a respectful greeting. I put the twist in spelling for this project to be pronounced “Naw-Ima-stay”. I didn’t originate the idea, however I took it a step further than the funny t-shirts that say “Namaste in bed.” Anyway, here is the structure of the project, Nama-stay, which I am asking you to back and support and to share.
Example:
Nama-stay (Naw-ima-stay) in Florida I’m looking to raise funds to purchase a property! At destinations you want to go to. I mean yes, I can take a loan out at a bank. You know a second mortgage, 20% down, which could take many, many, many years to do right? Is it a requirement that I must go in debt to provide a quality vacation home to your family? I say no. I hope you say no too! I was thinking of something a little less traditional and quite frankly, an inspiring story which could help out countless people. Here’s how it works…
If you choose to donate: Make it yours for 4 nights. - Once the goal is met - If you donated anything, Yes, I said anything. You will receive a 4 night stay, for free. $1 to $1000, to even more! Let’s you stay at no charge as our gift to you.
You are probably wondering well.. “Whats the catch?” It’s not so much of a catch as a time constraint. The more you donate – you get first choice of a vacation week.*
If you decide to return another year, whatever you donated will be your discount on our weekly rate
-If the goal is not met- Well we wait. Or we look for a cheaper home. If the goal still isn’t met. When we are prepared to rent out the home, whatever you donated will be your discount on the weekly rate.
I want to create something much bigger than ourselves. Where you can be involved and feel accomplished, while you are living your life each day. I want to give meaning to something and help lots of people. I cannot help some things like travel. But if you could imagine for a moment saving $100 $300 $500 $1200 on your next vacation. It would be silly to overlook.
All money raised, via GoFundMe goes towards: The principal of the mortgage, property tax, insurance, maintenance, upkeep, association fees, utilities, and anything else that we feel can add value to your experience.
Because everything is just 1 click away. I will use the power of social media to keep all those who have invested in this gift involved in every step of the acquiring of the property.
“Let’s do something amazing together. Where no one feels like they are losing. It’s a rare thing and definitely not what I'm use to.” -Jayden Simms (My son)
I’m sorry I don’t have this horrible story to tell to make you feel like you must donate. That effect just isn’t here. But if you are one of those people who feel like everyone deserves a vacation, invest in something like this to make it happen. I have a vision of Nama-Stay being something in which nobody has to lose and I believe I have achieved that vision. I’m asking you to SUPPORT THIS. Namaste to all who read. Simply ask yourself "How would I like to stay in a vacation home for free just by donating on this page?"
Namaste to all who read.
